When will we use the eye and finger scanner to open doors?

When will we use the eye and finger scanner to open doors?

I'm tired of carrying around the key, sometimes it happens that you lose them and I have to duplicate the keys or change the door's lock. In that year (more or less) we will start to use the eye and finger scanners to open doors and replaces common keys??

'When WILL we use...'

I think alot of people (always the elderly/women) would find the reconfiguration process too complicated.

Nick, thanks for correcting me but I know how to use future tense in English.

So we should be stuck with the keys all time?

Reconfiguration process is too complicated? There will be always someone who will fix it for you, just like your washing machines, sink or when cars get broken today. There will be always someone that it will fix these things for you or give you assistence

Every time I forget my key I remind myself about this.
It's possible today but completely not popular. Why ? I don't know :| Maybe because it's more expensive ? People don't trust it? I think it would become more popular in 20 years but still more than 50% of people will use standard locks.

More expensive yes, less safe? I dont know.. Today you can open the doors with fake keys or you can simply force locks.

To solve the problem with a scanner a camera could be placed in front of the door and record who comes in and out. Of course today is expensive but maybe in the future this technology could be cheaper.

In Back to the Future 2 when they go in the future the door have fingerprint scanners to open the door instead of using locks.

this stuff has been around since forever... just goes to show you that price does not always drop.
But if you go to the far eastern countries like Korea and Japan it is much more common, they are already living in the future.

Back to the Future 2 is among the worst sources to use for a scientifically accurate timeline.
